Coaxial cable-based cameras can be converted into Internet protocol cameras using a device known as a CCTV encoder, also referred to as a video server. These encoders can also split video signals from high-definition multimedia interfaces or digital visual interfaces, facilitating the distribution of the video feed to multiple monitors. With this capability, video monitoring can be widely deployed in places such as jails, hospitals, and schools, enhancing security and surveillance capabilities.
